What is an Insurance Endorsement and what are the procedures for making changes in a Royal Sundaram General Insurance policy?

An insurance endorsement is a mini-policy that is added to a current insurance policy to change certain information on the original insurance documents. It helps to enhance the insurance policy and update details for coverage of policyholders.

Royal Sundaram General Insurance has a specified endorsement procedure during the term of the policy. Any request for endorsements must be made by the insured in writing, which would be effective from the date of the request from the insured, or the date of receipt of premium or approval if required, whichever is later.

The following are available endorsements.

Non-financial endorsements that do not affect premiums:

  • Rectification in the name of the proposer/insured person
  • Rectification in the gender of the proposer/insured person
  • Rectification in the relationship of the insured person with the proposer
  • Rectification of DoB of the insured person (if it does not impact the premium)
  • Change in the correspondence address of the proposer (if it does not impact the premium)
  • Change/updating the contact details (phone no., email ID, and so on)
  • Updating alternate contact address of the proposer
  • Change in nominee details

Financial endorsements that result in alteration of premiums:

  • Deleting of insured members or death or separation or policyholder / insured person leaving the country (only if no claims are paid/outstanding)
  • Change in age/date of birth (DoB)
  • Addition of member (newly wedded spouse / new-born baby)
  • Rectification in gender of the proposer / insured person
  • Change in address of the proposer

All endorsement requests received from the insured will be assessed by the underwriting team and additional information/documents will be requested, if required.

Royal Sundaram General Insurance allows the policyholder to process endorsements through their website. If not, the policyholder needs to call the customer service number to register endorsements and send across the requested valid documents.
