How do I cancel my HDFC Ergo General Insurance Policy?

In any case if the insured / policyholder would like to cancel his hdfc ergo general insurance policy, then the Below given procedure needs to be followed:-

Freelook period:-the customer has a period of 15days from the date of receipt of the new policy document to review the terms and condition of this policy. If the insured has any objections to any of the terms and conditions, he has the option to cancel the policy stating the reason for cancellation. The insured is Entitled for a refund of premium subject to:

  • A deduction of the expenses incurred on the medical examination, Stamp duty Charges, if the risk has not commenced
  • A deduction of the stamp duty charges, medical examination charges & proportionate risk premium for Period on Cover, of the Risk has commenced.
  • A deduction of such proportionate risk premium commensuration with the risk covered during such period, where only a part of risk has commenced.
  • Free look period shall not be applicable For renewal policies.

 

Critical illness:

  • Customer has the option to terminate this policy any time by giving a written notice to the insurance company. The policy shall be terminated when such notice is received. If no claim has been made under the policy, then the insurance company shall refund the premium on pro rata basis.
  • In case the insured person has acted in a dishonest or fraudulent manner under or in relation to the policy or the Continuance of the policy poses a moral hazard then the insurance company shall terminate this policy with a 30 days' notice by sending an endorsement letter sent across to the registered address without refunding the premium.

 

Home insurance:

The insurance policy will be terminated at the request received in written from the insured and the premium shall be refunded on Short period rate for the time the policy was in force.

Health insurance policy:

The customer can terminate the policy by giving a written notice to the insurance company. The cancellation shall be from the date of receipt of such written notice. In case there was claim made under the policy, the insurance company will refund the premium in accordance To the table mentioned below:-
