A property damage claim is a report that you submit with the insurance company when your property has sustained damages. Losses or damages to your property need to be intimated to the relevant authorities (like police and fire brigade) and the insurance company as well.
At the time of making a claim with your insurance company, you will be required to list down your name, policy number, address, type of claim (what caused the damage) and description of damages to your property. Create a detailed list of all the losses you have suffered, and if possible, try and document the value of every object that has been damaged. On receiving your claim, the insurance company will assign an adjuster to oversee your case. The adjuster will take charge of surveying and assessing the loss. The report that the adjuster then creates will be used by the insurance company to finalise on the claim amount.
