Yes, if the policy has such provisions, then the cover will be extended at no additional cost.
However, there are very few policies that offer extension of the cover when the insured is abroad. It covers extension in the event of medical emergencies or evacuation (max. Up to 30 days) and delay of common carrier (max. Up to 7 days).
