Critical features of Royal Sundaram Lifeline Health Insurance Plan
- Room rent:
Limits imposed towards room and ICU rent expenses
No Capping on the Room rent limit for the 3 variants (Classic, Supreme and Elite)
- No Claim Bonus:
Health Insurance policies may offer Cumulative Bonus wherein for every claim free year, the Sum Insured is increased by a certain percentage at the time of renewal
- Classic Plan- 10% of basic sum insured up to a maximum of 50% for each unclaimed year in case opted for (The cumulative bonus will not reduce once a claim is made)
- Supreme and Elite Plan- 20% of basic sum insured up to a maximum of 100% for each unclaimed year in case opted for (The cumulative bonus will not reduce once a claim is made)
- Co-Pay:
Specific % of admissible claim amount to be borne by Insured
20% co-payment for International Treatment for 11 specified Critical Illness (Elite Plan)
- Pre-Existing Diseases:
Means any condition, ailment or injury or related condition(s) for which you had signs or symptoms, and / or were diagnosed, and / or received medical advice/ treatment, within 48 months prior to the first policy issued by the insurer
- Classic Plan has a waiting period of 4 years for pre-existing diseases
- Supreme Plan has a waiting period of 3 years for of pre-existing diseases
- Elite Plan has a waiting period of 2 years for pre-existing diseases
- Maternity has a waiting period of 3 years (Elite Plan)

Add-ons
- Daily Cash (by paying extra premium):
If the insured is hospitalised for more than 24hrs then a specified amount shall be payable for each completed and continuous period of Hospitalization, provided that
- The insured should have been hospitalised for more than 24hrs of hospitalization.
- Max days of hospitalization should not exceed 30 days.
- Inclusion of US and Canada for Worldwide Emergency Hospitalization and International Treatment for 11 specified Critical Illness:
International Treatment for 11 specified Critical Illness
Cancer of Specified Severity, First Heart Attack-of Specified Severity, Open Chest CABG, Open Heart Replacement or Repair of Heart Valves, Coma of Specified Severity, Kidney Failure Requiring Regular Dialysis, Stroke Resulting in Permanent Symptoms, Major Organ/Bone Marrow Transplant , Permanent Paralysis of Limbs, Motor Neurone Disease with Permanent Symptoms, Multiple Sclerosis with Persisting Symptoms.
- Top-up Plans:
An Amount equal to the deductible specified in the schedule of the insurance shall be borne by the Insured Person at the time of claim. ?

- Discount for multi-year polices- 5% discount for opting 2 years policy tenure and 10% for 3 yrs tenure
Waiting Period
- Covered from Day 1:
Accidental Injuries.
- Covered after 30 Days:
All incidences apart from specified surgeries, Permanent exclusion & Pre-existing diseases (if any)
- Covered after 2 Years:
Cataract, Stones in biliary and urinary systems, Hernia/Hydrocele, Hysterectomy for any benign disorder, Lumps/ cysts/ nodules/ polyps/ internal tumours, Gastric and Duodenal Ulcers, Surgery on tonsils/ adenoids, Osteoarthrosis/ Arthritis/ Gout/ Rheumatism/ Spondylosis/ Spondylitis/ Intervertebral Disc Prolapse, Fissure/ Fistula/ Haemorrhoid, Sinusitis/ Deviated Nasal Septum/ Tympanoplasty/ Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media, Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy, Knee/Hip Joint replacement, Dilatation and Curettage, Varicose veins, Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding/ Fibroids/ Prolapse Uterus/ Endometriosis, Diabetes and related complications, Chronic Renal Failure or end stage Renal Failure.
Exclusions
- T?ests and treatment relating to infertility and in vitro fertilization.
- Treatment with alternative medicines like acupuncture, acupressure, osteopath, naturopathy, chiropractic, reflexology and aromatherapy
- All expenses related to AIDS and related diseases.
- Use/Abuse of intoxicating drugs or alcohol, any hazardous activities
- War or any act of war, invasion, intentional self-injury or attempted suicide
- Treatment of obesity, Cosmetic treatments, mental disorders, external congenital diseases
- Personal comfort and convenience items or services
