Know Why Senior Citizen Plan is a Better Option

Mr. Dilip recently brought a life insurance cover from OneInsure and was pleasantly surprised to know about the wide range of products and services offered by us. He already had a family health insurance cover of 5 Lacs Sum Insured with New India Retail Health Insurance.

One day he called us with a query regarding his health insurance policy. His father, a hypertension patient, had a cardiac arrest and was being treated at one of the best hospitals. The hospital bill ran up to 4.5 Lacs but Dilip wasn’t worried as he had a health insurance cover of 5 Lacs. However, he got the shock of his life when the insurer rejected his claim on the basis of pre-existing illness condition, and Dilip had to pay the entire bill from his pocket. His policy stated that all pre-existing illness will be covered after 4 years and unfortunately Dilip’s policy had just completed 3 years and few months.

Unfortunately, we were not in a position to bail him out of the situation. Had he contacted us while finalizing his father’s policy we would have advised him to go for a Senior Citizen Plan, for his father, which covers pre-existing ailments after a waiting period of One Year. Senior Citizen Plan also offers certain Tax Benefits. Dilip should have opted for this plan.
