The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) recently announced that linking of Aadhaar number to insurance policies is mandatory. Failure to comply may lead to interruption at the time of claim settlement (in most cases, delayed payouts).The rule stands applicable to all insurance companies in the country and they are required to implement it at the earliest.
